There are just so many memories so vivid, that they appear to have happened only yesterday
Not much is needed to stop someone dead in their tracks from a painful past.
Even without wanting it to, sometimes yesterday catches up to today.
I see a boy with the sweetest heart turn cold
Teased, insulted and hurt from all that he was told.
To the point that his check muscles lost motivation to curve a smile.
And in the shadows he took refuge for awhile.
His biggest mistake: to turn away from his close ones…from love.
Whatever light that beamed before now dimmed due to the cold wind of fear.
The wounds, depressed moods, and aching hurt, had no relief
As time paced itself, this torture continued.
Love seemed like a fairy tale in this s*** hole
But yet, within his core, an amazing boy.
In his true nature, a human being,
With no fault whatsoever to blame him for his wounds
Within him, he held onto dim light without knowing it: his life.
Light that held power to spark life into the darkest shadows of his heart
And slowly a new voice started speaking…these simple words
“It’s not your fault.”
“It’s not your fault.”
“It’s not your fault.”
“It’s not your fault.”
“It’s not your fault.”
But sometimes the scars feel like wounds when yesterday catches up to today
