It’s important to keep in mind that everyone experiences anxiety at some point, but for many people, anxiety dominates their everyday life. These people may suffer from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
According to mayoclinic.com, GAD is characterized by “severe, ongoing anxiety that interferes with day-to-day activities.” You may also have GAD if you feel anxious even if there is no apparent reason for worry. Other symptoms may include:
- Constant worry or obsession about small or large concerns
- Restlessness and feeling keyed up or on edge
- Fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating or you mind “going blank”
- Irritability
- Muscle tension or muscle aches
- Trembling, feeling twitchy or being easily startled
- Trouble sleeping
- Seating, nausea or diarrhea
- Shortness of breath or rapid heartbeat
I came across Emileigh’s video about her experience with GAD and I think that she explains it well. Check it out!
Sometimes it’s more helpful to hear people’s experiences who suffer from generalized anxiety disorder to understand it. If you have these symptoms and want to share your experience with GAD, email me at Share Your Story and I’ll publish it in an upcoming post. We will keep your identity anonymous. You can also send in a video of you talking about your experience with GAD.
I look forward to hearing from you!
