Just when you feel like nothing is going right… …is when you’ve voluntarily given up your power.
Often, when we are in the midst of great anxiety or stress, we feel powerless and hopeless. Many other factors may be playing a role- like something or someone that makes us believe that we need to stay down.
But, that’s just not true.
At any moment in time, you can stop and make the choice to smile, As Eleanor Roosevelt so greatly proclaimed, “NO ONE can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Don’t give your power away to anyone, ever.
I know, I know, easier said than done. Thich Nhat Hanh said, “People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar.”
And it’s true… making the change has an up-front cost- things just starting to get hard and uncomfortable once you decide to change your mind and feel good? It means you’ve leveled up in the game of recovery. If you’re there, don’t be blinded by the urgency for instant gratification (which our generation is so good at!). Instead, congratulations! Know that you are there for a reason: you are ready for it. The change around the corner is so much better than what you think “best” even is.
So… What have you done today to level up?

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.”
― Alan Cohen
“To grow, you must be willing to let your present and future be totally unlike your past. Your history is NOT your destiny.”
― Alan Cohen
