Residents of Aurora, Colorado are the latest to experience this tragedy in a manner that is far too personal.
Early Friday morning, a man walked in through the emergency exit door of a movie theater during the midnight premiere of the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, lobbed a can of gas, then began firing at the crowd, killing 12, including a 6 year old girl, and injuring another 58, some of whom were still fighting for their lives Monday morning.
When police approached him next to his car behind the theater, he told them he was The Joker, a character portrayed by the late Heath Ledger in the last installment of the Batman movie series. The man had dies his hair orange, not completely dissimilar to the Ledger character.
