Taking time to appreciate yourself requires just that: time. Tomorrow morning, make an intention to do the next five items intentionally as you spend a few extra seconds or minutes on appreciating yourself. These small steps can make a difference that will last at least the rest of the day!
- Take 3 minutes to meditate in bed this morning. Be still and accept what is. Try to let thoughts come and go as you lay in bed. Let the negative ones just waltz out the same way the waltzed in. Contrary to popular belief, meditation is actually a very active activity, and doing it often will help you accept yourself.
- Do twenty five jumping jacks as sharply and crisp as you can. Getting the blood flowing and controlling your body movements in a very intentional way gets you in the mood to remember the extra steps you’ll take today without rushing as well as remind you that you are in control of yourself (including your thoughts and feelings!) and love yourself
- Make half one of your favorite breakfasts and half of your second favorite breakfast. Not only will the diversity add to energy and a variety of nutrients for you to feel well throughout the day, but showing you take the time to invest in yourself is an act of love.
- Wear your “What are you dressed up for today?” out fit. Not your prom dress necessarily, but just that special outfit that is a tad more special and especially flattering (read: makes you FEEL special). It makes a big difference
- Text yourself a [positive] message first. Chances are, by this time in the day, it wouldn’t be surprising if your phone is already on with texts, Facebook notifications, game updates and all sorts of flashing lights already buzzing. However, make the first thing you do is send a text message from yourself. Although small, its just one more nice little buzz that you can look at right away and see an amazing compliment come from you to love yourself as you send it but also a nice little reminder for yourself later.
